A community wellbeing project funded by Colchester City Council, working with adults with addiction, homelessness and mental health issues, exploring the city through their eyes.
A series of 7 multi-media and multi-sensory workshops examining britains first city from a different perspective.
‘Twinkle, Twinkle little star’ was written in Colchester, so the group created Oli, a homeless person who would sleep under stars made from foil blankets, in a sleeping bag embroidered with specific words, poignant to the people stitching. Handmade terracotta oil lamps echoed our roman history and provide a ‘light in the darkness’.
sitting in colchester castle is a roman pot made in the city, with images of chariot races, hunters and gladiators. our colchester pot featured mobility 'chariots' racing to the Gala bingo, mums with laden buggies hunting a bargain in primark and our own 'gladiators' outside the silk road nightclub brawling in the street.
